Larger chap!

215 miles over 3 days.

Need as much help as possible so slicks and narrow - 23

Some puncture protection would be useful as in Southern Ireland and dont expect much from the roads....

Any ideas?

Armadillos?

Bontrager Hard CAse?

Help ASAP please as fly out this week smile

I've been using Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks for a couple of years and they've been great. I'm hardly a TDF rider so ultimate grip isn't an issue. Can't comment on the puncture resistance as I'll be tempting fate wink

Personally I'd always run on slicks as tread on tyres do nothing anyway so is a complete waste of time.

Hi i been using michelin pro race 3s for a good while now, roll nicely and nice and sticky in the corners, also tried Schwalbe Ultremo zx with tripple compound, first day out did just over 100 mile on them and noticed little nicks in them, and dont feel i can trust them as much cornering at speed.Think will take them off and put them on winter trainer soon.Good luck with your ride.Take 4or 5 tubes and a repair kit and you should be fine.

Vittoria Open Paves. If you're a "Larger chap" then you'll be wanting bigger volume tyre, else to the likelihood of pinch flats you'd be inflating the 23s to pressures that'd ruin ride quality and rolling resistance, which is the last thing you want. The Paves are 24mm (a wide 24c, mind) with plenty of volume, making them comfortable, roll beautifully, and if they're tough enough for the pros on the cobblestones of France and Belgium, then they'd be fine for your ride smile

another vote for the Paves - there are some on Amazon so delivery should be quick enough

also consider the Conti GP4000 S in 25 section, they ride beautifully
