Seems odd to have V brakes on a bike supposedly selling for £1,700?

Having said that, if it's genuine, then the buyer just got the whole bike for pretty much the retail value of the forks alone!

Majority of the bits are budget - Ricthy finishing kit, LX cranks, Rebas (cheap but excellent forks I have to say), and V brakes. That said, for £310 it's a decent enough bike.

Whilst I like v-brakes on a hardtail, I'd want discs on a full sus, and those hubs don't appear to be disc compatible. So costly to upgrade.

I doubt it was ever worth what they're claiming though.

I had the chance to buy a Trek Top Fuel 7 off ebay for £250 buyitnow, and I was just going up to see it before offering them the cash (subject to it not being stolen / knackered etc) when some other person bought it frown

agreed, very odd spec. Not bad for £300 though.

Those LX levers are about a 2000 model aren't they?

I would say its a bike made up of older parts that have been upgraded from other bikes, with maybe a few cheaper bits bought specially to complete a bike for sale.

Would have been better off selling all the parts individually really though.

How much would you say that bike and the Trek I posted are worth?

Parts bin special, love the pedals on it and the use of non disc hubs - someone was either very sure of the spec they wanted, or had a selection of obsolete parts they wanted rid of.

Can't be worth more than £800 new, if the bits were bought wisely. Price seems about right considering the narrow market of the specification and the ebay worry.
