Would be interested in the gb. Can anyone recommend a good online shop who could supply the model and paints as a package. I could try ebay and then wait for model and then order paints.

Lots of online model shops. All of them I've used seem fine.

Sounds intrigueing. I have two Tamiya JTCC 90's kits here. Intended on producing test cars out of them anyway. Before this GB was announced.

Without wanting to come across as the be all and end all of this or any group build - hey I'm not even participating!- I would say that such vehicles would be okay as long as their projected use would have been that of race car and not (only) road car.

Maybe a racing car could be classed as one with a racing livery or at least a number?

If you try to get too prescriptive it all gets a bit anoraky and tedious. A racing car is a car designed or modified for racing. That could be a dedicated pure racing car (like an F1 car) or something like a MkII Jag or a Ciroen 2CV with numbers on the door.
The main thing is that the model does not look like a common or garden road car with no racing modifications.

I was going to give this GB a miss, but somehow a 1/20 racing car has arrived from a well known auction site. But it seems I'm too late as Tangerine_sedge has already started building his Tyrrell P34 and I wouldn't want to do the same kit. So bear with me, as I have an eye on a 1/20 or even 1/12 JPS Lotus.

I suppose I ought to make a start but I have been quite busy "insiding" my modified Matchbox Wessex these lazy nights... I will get the thread set up now, might take a few days to fire up the Sauber though.

I'm still looking for my Lotus 7 kit. I know it's in the loft somewhere but I haven't tracked it down yet.

Thinking a Revell Kouros Sauber/ Porsche 956/962, or what I'd really like is the Tamiya (or even Hasegawa) Jaguar XJR-9, but I can't find any in the UK.

So I decided to build a series of endurance racing cars based on machines I've actually seen racing at the Silversone 6 hours/1000kms races in the past. In all, I'm hoping to build a Tamiya Martini Porsche 935, a Jaguar XJR-8 or 9, a Lancia LC-1 or 2 - if I can find one - and of course a Porsche 956/962. All 1:24. Less tha 24 hours (ha ha) after assuring the missus that I wouldn't be buying *any more kits* until I'd built the three aircraft I've got in the stash (plus the 1:32 Sea Venom that's on it's way)...I have two more kits. A pal of mine found a now rare Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM in his local model shop this morning and asked if I wanted it for £20. Of course. Then this afternoon I was in my local model shop (just passing - rude not to call in), and they had a discontinued Revell Kouros Sauber C-9, so I thought it would be wise to buy that too: To add insult to injury, I recently discovered a newly released Top Studio super detail kit for the 1:20 Tamiya McLaren MP4/4. It looks...sublime, never seen such a complete detail kit. This is another car I saw race (Senna winning in the wet at Silverstone 1988). So I'll be having one of those as well for my birthday thanks very much: I guess one of these cars will be my entry into the group build. Carbon fibre decal sheet ahoy!
