Outside Tolworth station there is a cycle lane. It has to be a candidate for the daftest cycle lane in the country.

Take a look on Google Streetview, then see if you can find a more absurd one.

Just to clarify, that's it. There's no more cycle path for at least 200 yards in either direction. hehe

This Is a favourite of mine I pass daily. You can't see the markings that well but it is a cycle lane.

Interesstingly, he also said "I've been riding this route for 25years". Now, assuming they weren't put in between him riding home the previous night, and riding to work the following morning, as a biologist you'd think he'd rememeber they were bloody there hehe

Do biologists have better memories than most then? Interesting! I didn't realise there was a link between area of study and memory. Is there a league table somewhere for how the different studies rank in memory-capacity?
wink

Not the shortest but this one in Richmond always amazes me.
It's not just a bit of white paint, it's got ridged slabs at either end, different colour tarmac and bumed edging stones. Must have cost a fortune.

Is there a certain amount/%age of cycle lanes a council is obliged to provide?

Yup, and I seem to recall they get money for every mile they have.

This always strikes me as a pointless bit of cycle lane.
