Have good parkruns today folks. Pennington Flash for me as we are at the in-laws again.

It's parkrun's 11th birthday tomorrow!

13 people at the first event and 121,000 people at over 700 events last weekend. If the growth continues at that rate there'll be 223 million people running for the 20th anniversary smile (The rate of growth might slow down by then!)

Weather's looking good (in Brighton anyway), I'll be at my home event and have no volunteering responsibilities so can leave it to others and enjoy the run!

It's also the 1st birthday of my local parkrun. Unfortunately it clashes with the National Road Relays so I'll be running round Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield instead and miss the cakes. frown

Have a great event!

New parkrun PB of 19:20, 9th (of 273) past the finish and the first one home from the running club. Granted a lot of the faster people were resting up for Bournemouth tomorrow but that's beside the point smile

Amazing the difference a flat course can make...

Well done KTF smile

I was undecided whether to try for a good time or just enjoy it this week, the decision was made when someone said he was trying to break 25 mins - he did something like 25:12 last week - so I paced him and we came in at 24:43. I then carried on to pick up a lady ( I should rephrase that redface ) who I knew was determined to get sub 45, did another 1 1/2 laps with her and she finished in 44:30 so although my time was only average I helped 2 others to achieve something so a worthwhile day.

I might have to gun it next week and see if I can get back into the 23s!

Back at Bournemouth parkrun again, its the running festival so quite busy. Nice parkrun, it seems that I always seem to find someone who ran the Round Norfolk Relay to talk to!

Am still surprised that some people run the day before a race. Even if it is an easy run I still wouldn't.

I raced Saturday - did a PB on the National 6 Stage Road Relay course. I ran Friday (5.25 mi steady run commute). My taper strategy is same frequency less intensity.

Does anybody have any experience of the Pomphrey Hill event at all? I'm going to be in the area on Saturday morning and thought I'd try and get some cheeky tourism in for my 150th run.

I know quite a few people who will do a parkrun on the morning of a race (I did it myself with Endure 24 this year). I guess it depends on your reasons for racing, if you're a chance of a category win then it makes sense not to, must of us are just doing it for fun though.

630 runners at the Huddersfield event today. After a good fell race on Wednesday I went confident of a sub twenty time, came in at 20.03, so a bit disappointed. 25th overall and second in my age category, but still disappointed.

19:27 VW50-54 90.66 %

She is a really gutsy runner, I saw her at a 10k where she fainted as soon as she crossed the finish line.

Can see how a 'gentle' parkrun could keep the legs ticking over but I can't help but do them flat out smile

Someone who did a parkrun the day before a marathon got tripped at the start and had a nice bruise on their knee as a result so it can have its risks as well.

Yes. I believe that it has been proved that running is good for you.
