How are you defining ste?The worn Shimano ones I've got in there are still good enough to lock up both wheels at 20+ mph should white van man choose to pull across in front of me without looking. Is there another area of performance when it comes to road brakes?

Good news! I can now guarantee that it's not going to rain in London for at least 3 months from probably tomorrow!
The reason for this is, having discovered that my 105s actually are pad in shoe models, and following now three evening commutes in a row with pissing rain and no braking power, I have ordered some Koolstop Salmons off Wiggle.
Sods' Law therefore dictates that there will be no rain in the near future for me to test them with!
