Just a heads up for the fans of the Sharwood's Goan Vindaloo sauce (Cotty, JonRB et al) - there is a new sheriff in town. I have high hopes, as quoting from the label its "Sharwood's hottest ever curry". Going to slow cook it with mutton (ok, hogget) on the bone, will post my results up here.

I have already tried it and told Jon about it. Will not be trying this again, I couldn't get more than half way thought. It is seriously hot. I wasn't furious but this is the only smiley that how I looked Jon liked it and though it had a good blend of spices. But then again I think he uses Blairs 3am as mouthwash.

In the end I wasn't that excited by it.
Spicy, but not *that* hot... The search continues...

Now I enjoy chilli's fresh and flakes and they go on 90% of the food I prepare for lunch and dinner, but what pleasure can you possibly have by eating food that spicey, I just wouldn't want to. Have watched that video and cannot contemplate what the eventual aftermath would be towards the white porcelain.

Have watched that video and cannot contemplate what the eventual aftermath would be towards the white porcelain. There was little pleasure in it I can assure you. That said, the hot stuff does give you a bit of an endorphin high. The aftermath for me wasn't too severe, most of it ended up in the sink before it could react. I did spend about 20 minutes on the loo the next morning though after a full English.

One of the most simple pleasures in life for me is drinking a cup of tea after eating something spicy. The hotter the better

It's actually got quite a nice flavour, reminiscient of a Vindaloo/Phall in an Indian restaurant, but will less of the powdery taste of too much chilli powder that you tend to get. I'll experiment with a richer onion/garlic/ginger base and give it another try.

Is this going to turn into another one of those 'elevenerife' threads where people just post up 'their' hottest sauce that they've read about on the internet? Boring. Not a dig at the OP. I like Sharwood's sauces, I might try this one.

My post wasn't directed at the OP or those having tried this sauce. However many of the threads focusing on spicy and/or food end up in a willy waving contest.
