So after being "outsourced" i'm doing the usual apply for everything scramble and hope i get a call back.

Agency 1 - rushed me to go in and register because of this great opportunity, so i get there within 30 mins of the call, go thro the details, say yes i'm available for interview all day on X, X arrives and despite my calling very politely, twice the day before and once on the day, STILL no call back. Not even by a junior to say so-n-so is busy but will get back to you as soon as they can.

Agency 2 - so i missed a call by literally seconds, call back, leave a message, that was 90 mins ago.....

GRRRRRRRRRRR bcensoredk's fcensoredk wcensoredr's

so anyone need a hardworking administrator in the Surrey/Berks area?

No doubt you'll get a reply from a Recruiter saying "it's a hard life" or something. wink

But to be fair it's not always them that's the hold up. I've seen several jobs advertised for WEEKS. And when you apply for them, and then follow up with a phone call. They always say they are just starting to go through applications. Seems the days of urgent start required are long gone.

Most employers that I've seen recently cannot seem to pull their finger out.

This, and build a rapport with the agent if possible.

I get so tired of hearing "I can't find a job, have applied for at least 3 this week" (and by applied, they just dropped a generic CV in the box and clicked "SEND"

Cover letter / note each time making it clear as to why your CV is important.

Follow each application with a phone call

If you get communication with the agents, strike up a communication with them and write down the last thing you spoke about on a spreadsheet. If you make the effort to remember them, they are more likely to remember you.

I was applying for 25-30 jobs a day, every day, scouring job sites every waking minute I was free as well as calling every agent at least once a week. Sending off a CV a couple of times a week is NOT ENOUGH these days

Linked in, see if anyone knows of any jobs going they can recommend you for. This works sometimes.

Using the above method, I found a job and got accepted within 5 weeks.
