I still think it would be funny if right at the end we find out it's all a dream

Normally I don't like Neil Gaiman's opinions, which is odd as I love most of his writing but I did enjoy this blog article he wrote on people who moan about the next book coming

http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2009/05/entitlement-...

I first started reading the hooks in 1999 or so. A Storm of Swords came out just after I started reading. It was ages till the next 2 came out. I do wonder if he is struggling to finish it.

I like some of his comics, not read his books.
What does he normally say that you don't like? biggrin

I think they have increased the importance of Oberyn because they need to give the Martells a good reason to enter the war. It's fairly obvious with all the Sand Snake stuff in Book 5 that House Martell is going to fight the Lannisters I think and the mentioning of some decades old daughter dying isn't enough for TV

Interesting, do you think they will show us some of the Princess Myrcella sub plot then ? That was a part of the books that never really felt right to me, but it would fit in well with your Martell/Lannister war theory (I've only read the books once, so may have missed some subtle hints). Including all of that will involve introducing even more characters and some fairly subtle plotting - I'm not sure they have the time to fit this into the show and adding even more new characters could prove confusing.

I love the mention of Shae by Tyrion last night, I hope they do try to keep reminding the viewers of this because it will make the reveal all the more shocking. I wonder if they will try and do something clever to get her 'evidence' at Tyrions trial in without explicitly mentioning/showing that it is from her. Also, the fact that Bronn told Tyrion at the wedding that Shae was safely on the boat (I don't remember this in the book) will give added impact to Bronns 'betrayal' of Tyrion.

The bit with the Prince of Dorne dying in Meeren makes me think it's important. Martells words are Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. They are the only house that has never been defeated. I think Dany will end up using their army to help her. It's possible I'm totally wrong as it's just a theory, they may be totally unimportant but then why bother with Oberyn at all?

The problem is that I'm not sure how Oberyn dieing after fighting The Mountain can be used as a justification for the Martells declaring war on the Lannisters, it's a fair fight and both participants end up dead (sort of wink) Given how much they have made of Qyburn so far I'm fairly sure we are going to see Zombie Mountain (can't remember what they call the mysterious knight in the books). I love the complexity of this story, so many possibilities smile

Despite them saying otherwise, it does seem as if the seasons are matching up pretty well with the books. At this rate I can see season 5 including:

- Ayra's training as a faceless one in Bravos
- Jon Snows 'death', although I'm not sure that they can drag this out until the end of the season and having it happen early on would seem a little strange, I can't see this happening this season as I think the big wall battle is going to be the BIG episode 10 that is being talked about, with Stannis turning up to save the day.
- Tyrions journey to finally (almost) meet Dany and the dragons
- I wonder if they will include the attempt to steal the dragons sub plot, would be good but again this would need a lot of new characters and story time to set up

And then we really will need book 6...

I'm going to be pissed off if I can't read the books then spoil it at work

I once told a friend that the 5th Cylon was Starbuck. Oddly he was even more pissed off when she wasn't!

I'm so tempted to post some fake spoilers in the other thread as well. The problem being some of the theories I've read would make the spoilers seem sensible

Some of the theories on the ASOIAF are mental. A lot of chatter about what characters will be dropped. I doubt that the big Greyjoys and Martells will be.

Mycella was mentioned very prominently in S4E2, I reckon we'll see her again.
Robert Strong was Zombie Mountains name (if it is he).
There is something Bronn says in the trailer for next week that makes me think Bronn's 'betrayal' will have more of a sting in the show.

Plot accuracy. Even though details have been a bit blurry the main juggernaut has followed people where they have been going in the books. But Jon Snow heading out of the wall to fight Quarl at Craster's Keep? Major deviation or just a small detour?
Also....Davos contacting the Iron Bank....a different way to bring the Bank to the Wall?

yes Very curious

Am I the only one refusing to watch Thronecast & the adverts so I see the whole show as it was meant to be seen?

Am loving in the other thread how people are picking favourite characters as Tywin (and I know I'm guilty with the Hound) laugh

What's wrong with picking him as a favourite? I don't get it?

I'm pretty sure you don't mean we should only like the nice characters but I don't see the problem with liking the Hound or Tywin?

Yeah. If you mean they will die, that isn't really narrowing it down! I think that pretty much most of the characters will end up dead with the possible exceptions of Jon Snow (who will be resurrected although probably not as an ice dragon as some theories suggest!!!) Bran and Sansa. Bran will end up in one of the trees like that other thing and Sansa will end up as Warden of the North after killing all the Boltons.

The rest are all pretty much dead, it's just a matter of finding out when

I wouldn't be surprised if JS dies (true death) after he has helped do whatever he needs to do once he comes back.
Sansa. Yeah. I can see her doing a Vader on LF and becoming a powerful creation. I can also see her not exactly being a Stark or what a Stark should be, and probably being quite an Ice Queen.
Any possible interaction between Sansa and Arya could be cool...possibly ending in blood.

That's how I see Sansa playing out although I disagree about her and Arya falling out. My theory is that Arya will eventually realise that killing the people on the list doesn't make her happier and she will pull back from being full on mental. She will end up being Sansa's bodyguard in a similar role that the Hound followed with Joffrey. Sansa will end up running the North while Jon and Dany will marry and rule the 7 kingdoms using the 2 surviving dragons to start a new family of dragons. Possibly they will adopt Mance's baby to get round the fact that Dany is barren or possibly the Red God will heal her

Tyrion is going to end up dead on the 3rd dragon but die doing something heroic.

Myrcella will rule in Dorne marrying one of the Dornish princes with the Sand Snakes guarding her.

I'm not sure what will happen to Tommen. I got the impression from the books that he is the nicest of the Lannister children so he will probably die.

Interesting theories smile

I'm afraid I don't have any - too many possibles!

It was more that those that haven't & are just watching are still picking favourite people, they haven't learned yet it's not safe to do that; in fact that just as you do think 'oh he's nice' they die laugh

Reminds me of that SNL skit about GRRM when he basically lists all the characters and how they die!

Arya has a strong sense of family, and overall justice.
Sansa is more about herself and her family saving her...I think.
Sansa might grow in more ways than one as she assumes her role as LF's intellectual heir. I'm ambivalent at the moment, she could be a power for 'a setting things a right', or she could be become a better Littlefinger than Littlefinger.
