Backdated pay after changing jobs?

Hi,

I left my previous job during pay negotiations. The pay deal should have been finalised and awarded on the 01st January 2011. I left my job on the 17th April 2011. Am I entitled to the back dated pay for the period I was still employed? My first contact at my old company has just told me no, but I'm not ready to give up just yet.

Does anybody have any experience?

I don't know if there is a hard and fast rule for this, but I have issued cheques for back-dated pay for employees who left before the pay negotiation was resolved. I'm maybe a big softy though and could understand if other companies say tough luck, you've missed your chance.

Why not give ACAS a call and see what they suggest?
