So as well as cars how many PH'ers are into flying machines? I am currently ready to go solo(*again) subject to the air law exam everything else is in place. - I do already have 1h-15min solo time but that was way back in 94 and my logbook has been sat idle for some time. I really do hope I can see it through to completion this time :-)

Working towards my JAR PPL, finally! Hope to solo before I head back to work, weather permitting of course.

I am initially just working towards the NPPl. I can always go full PPL at a later date if needed. I have almost 20 hours dual so in the main I need to add the PIC hours and navigation aspect. Considering I have had such a long lay off I was very surprised when my FI said I should get the exam done asap as he considered me to be solo standard after only 3h-40 of refreshment.

Flew a fair bit with the old man, so no probs with the training so far. Fingers crossed. Where are you training? Eric - with your level of enthusiasm I'm surprised you haven't given it a go.

Lapsed PPL(a), like most I suspect!! :S
Did my training at SoloFlight, Humberside airport back in 2002-3. Blimey 10yrs ago! Great fun, but a bit bloody expensive trying to keep current.
Solo'd at 4hrs and did the skills test @45h, had about 30hrs in ASK21 gliders before that though which obviously helped massively.
Would like to re-validate one day, but practically cant see it happening.
I learnt in a PA28 and was much happier in this than a high wing.

First solo is fantastic. You trundle up into the circuit and turn downwind and look over at the RWY and it hits you . . . . there's nobody sitting next to you! Just an empty seat. Brilliant.

I did, in the early 80s. But I felt that I wasn't geting as much fun out of it for the expenditure required. I was training in Ireland and I don't think the instructors were up to much to be honest. Also, Cessna 152s are less than inspiring aircraft.

Current PPL (A) here, about 90 hours.
Had my PPL before my driving licence!
Plane is currently in for CofA with a cylinder out for inspection. Expensive!

magpie215 said: Low compression? Nope. Engine is on condition, is a routine check to have a look inside. Pulled bloody well on the positioning flight so not down on power.
