Been offered an 04 plate Cooper s via a family friend. The owner emigrated 3 years ago and the car hasn't been used in this time so has only done 29k miles from new!
Do you think this is a good buy or could the lack of use have caused problems? Seems to drive without fault.

Less than £4k would be great, less than £5k acceptable.

For an 04? That would be a right bargain wouldnt it?

Its not moved in 3 years and has no spec.

60k miles ones are sub 5k now for 04's. (note: not actually checked but mine is a late 53 plate and I reckon its worth less than 4k based on similar vehicles on autotrader)

We bought a 53 plate MCS with 21600 miles on it for £5700 from a BMW dealer and thing it was a good buy

1 lady owner ,full service history with recent service and MOT and 2 new tyres.

I thought that was a good buy and we traded my GF wee fiesta in that was Rubbish and got a good price for it.

was advertised iirc as

"owner has moved abroad, i am his wife, and selling it for him, car has not moved for 2 years"

Leaving cars standing buggers them up, you'll have to replace rubbers, pipes and all sorts all over the car so unless you get it at 30% off i wouldn't touch it, something that does ~9,000 miles a year will be in better condition than something abandoned for 3 years, i presume it's missed services too.
