R53 Fuel Tank Oddities!

So i've had mine forever and now it's tuned i get ~40MPG (well the OH does!) but i still fill it up quite often so i've been playing the how much can i get in it.
The results are in, when it clicks the fuel tank shows full (on the sat nav display) yet if you pull the handle out and trickle it in it will take a further 15 litres!

I suspect that the coopers and ones will do the same, brilliantly poor venting design on MINI's behalf!!
