I'm struggling to understand even after asking merlin directly if the current Reba Team 2010 they have on the RockShox offer page has an internal spacer.

Merlin say

"Unfortunately these forks do not come with internal spacer."

Posts on singletrackworld & bikeradar etc say they do, anyone got any direct experience?

And if the counter to Merlin is true what possible motivation do they have for not saying it?

Not from their description on the webpage.

"All aftermarket boxed"

The bike I have now would suit it at 100mm but I'm looking at a kinesis XC130 frame next and the 120mm would suit that without having to move it on and buy a completely new fork.

I bought some OEM 09 reba Sl's from merlin last year, they came with a spacer, instructions, sticker and poploc. I imagine boxed ones will too.
