I know a couple have mentioned that they wouldn't buy a 'car related' plate, however all the employees at my in law's business (Miles 33) have M33 and then their initials.

If i'm right in thinking, then dont you in-laws them selves have some very very nice motors and some pretty desirable plates (M33, DAT4 & M1LES amongst them).
