Frustrations from the front line..

Well not front line exactly
I'm currently in the RAF and due to leave this year so looking for work at the moment. I'm an ICT Tech but have for the last three year been working in a technical comms role that has no relation to IT at all.
I like both IT and the more electronics based work so created two CV's for the different disciplines. So a big IT contractor in South Wales were interested in me for an App Support role and I got to the last two.. Ended up not getting it because of lack of experience in the IT arena.
Today I get turned down by a large electronics manufacturer for a job based around comms supporting the military as part of a long term contract... why? I'm too IT biased.
You literally can not win!
My CV has been checked by rec agents and it/they are fine.. I'm doing an OU degree and have only firsts for my assignments..
What more can I frikkin do?

Keep trying! It's not going to be a simple transition from mil to civ; it will require resilience and tenacity, things I am sure you have, to find the opening you are after. It will also depend upon how flexible you are with location, salary level and role, and even whether you're prepared to retrain. And whilst you have targeted specific industries, have you considered others where both your hard and soft skills may be transferable? I would also continue to get feedback on your CV. Good luck!
If you are getting interviews then your CV should be OK - thats 90% of the battle.
You just need to keep at it. There is a lot of competition out there and so you will come up against very well qualified candidates at interviews.
You just need to find a company that clicks with you
One thing to try to avoid is the overuse of military terms and acronyms in any communication with civilian organisations
