Given the incident that Parrot of Doom recently encountered (please read his latest encounter thread from the other day), would you have pulled over or carried on to the end of the lane. Note - I am not asking whether you would have stopped to video the incident...

I think POD's actions were appropriate and correct.

I agree - actions were correct. Less than 10secs delay is f**k all IMO, especially given the lack of available options/space to pull over.

I also think POD was completely correct, although too restrained IMHO. I would have(and do) block lanes where there is no room to overtake, until I get to a gap where I can pull over. When the roles are reversed, I'm completely happy to wait for the cyclist to reach a safe passing space. WTF is controversial about that, FFS ?

These events are never about the time delay, it's about mongs wanting to proove their alpha male status.

I have said 'no' simply because I come across this out here in the wild west that is Glos!

If the lane or single track is miles long and I am going to be a moving chicane for a couple of miles, I go out of my way and find somewhere to let them pass.

If the lane is as short as stated, I acknowledge the driver and crank up the pace (obviously) so that they know I am getting out of their way ASAP. Once clear and they are passing, I thank them for sitting patiently!!!!

Outright courtesy and polite behaviour can be incredibly calming and indeed, disarming! beer

I'd have pulled over. I would also have pulled further over in his initial incident. Situations like that occur all the time where certain levels of give and take are required, most don't escalate to such ludicrous levels because the majority of people are just easy going.

Militant camera-helmeted cyclists are a disgrace. His insane video on youtube lead me on to discover hundreds more of these sorts of people who I believe, deep down, go out of their way to encounter incidents so they can upload them to the web.

Calling the police over that was possibly the craziest thing I have ever seen. I would be mortified to do that.

I would have pulled over and given a cheery smile and a wave, because I'm like that (generally non-confrontational). Better to make friends than enemies.

As Slaav said.

Not far away from the end, crank up the speed (although why you'd not already be at least 25mph on that road already I don't know wink ) then thank afterwards.

If I'd been at the beginning of the lane and holding them up for ages I'd have waved them passed.

This is a no-win poll for the Parrot.

If the majority is "yes", he's outnumbered.
If the majority is "no", we're all militant cycletards.

I'd have kept going, maybe tried to put in an extra burst of speed to placate the driver (unlikely to have worked given his horn leaning and general attitude) but I'd have had as much right as him to use the road and the speed at which progress was made and his impeded rate of progress is to be expected on this type of road.
