Sad day for me frown I finally have had to give in and try and sell my XJS Monaco, I tried to appease SWMBO and have had it up for sale on my website in a dark corner but now it really needs a good home.

So if anybody knows of anyone who might be interested please check out the classifieds, click HERE

Thanks

Google just found this thread for me. A friend saw this tucked up in a car park in Brighton (I think) yesterday. It's been fascinating reading the history of this car. Am I right in thinking that this was one of the kits? Did you ever find anything to replace it?

I believe mine was one of the last kits Paul Bailey sold, the kit was fitted by myself and a lot was changed, there was a website with all the info on it which use to be run by Yahoo, Geocities as I seem to remember!

Got a few projects on the go at the moment..... All Jag related.....

On a side note I do have Monaco No1 (I am told belonged to the Sultan of Brunei and the keys with gold ingots in them does somewhat make you think this is correct) sitting in my workshop under going some truly fantastic modifications, it will be a hell of a car when it is done

Fantastic. Is #1 a 6.0 Coupé? Are you doing a build thread?

Haven't really thought about doing a build thread, at the moment it has a 5.3 V12, I believe the car is an 87, coupe, I have already done a facelift conversion, changing the doors to pillarless and the larger rear quater windows, rear lights and boot lid have also been changed.

2014 XK front lights are going to be fitted..... The biggest change will be the engine/gearbox...We bought a 99 XJR and the entire electrical system, with all of its loom and modules will be put into the XJS, we was going to go manual but the owner likes the idea of auto so rather than muck about we thought lets take the lot, I will still be able to give him 450 bhp but his mpgs will suffer. When we was going manual I could of done him an economy map and he would of got high 20s. We will rebuild the engine and do a few tweaks. ..... I am sure I will find a home for the gearbox, 90mm throttle body and pedal box we got in anticipation.....

In my opinion it's a massive shame it's being changed to be honest. I don't think having such modern front lights on an older car will work (not that the Monaco is a particularly handsome thing originally).

The history of the car would be enough to keep it unique too.

That said..
a) I'm not the owner so my opinion matters not a jot and
b) I'm sure the modifications will make it a more useable and better car overall which'll lead to it being used more.

Good thing that the car is at least cared for in any case, better to have these in the hands of enthusiasts than rotting away in the middle of a tropical rainforst eh?

Actually the whole front will be changed, I never liked the Mitsubishi FTO style front mouth.. So I am going to try and make some up out of what I have got......

In some ways it is a shame, but it will be a phenomenal car when it is done

Would these front end panels suit your Monaco kit?

The main point is to shorten the over hang at the front so I am going to adapt one of our Verendum style front bumpers to fit, with the 2014 XK lights I think it will work, I will need to add something to the bottom corners so it will pick up the side sill without looking like it is not suppose to be there.... If I can loose 150mm off the front I will be happy
