Denon AVR or Pioneer VSX

I was just wondering if anyone would be able to advise which amp would be better!

I'm looking at the Pioneer VSX 421 and the Denon AVR-1312. I'm on a tight budget hence why I'm looking at these two.

I have some basic Roth floor standers I got ex display that I'm planning on using.

I want to connect a TV, Xbox 360 and a DVD player. I'm swaying towards the Denon, purely because I know the name and it has slightly better speaker connections on the back.

Can anyone advise either way?

Having had receivers from Pioneer and Denon in the past, I'd go for a Yamaha instead if there's one in your budget range. I haven't heard the two models in your list but the 'budget' Yamaha I have has far better sound quality than it's Denon and Pioneer peers and sounds really good with music and in 5.1.
