OK as a first timer at Le Mans I have the following dumb questions:

Directions: I’ve just plugged Arnage village into mappoint.com and got directions to there. I assume if I follow these when I get within 2-3 miles of the circuit the signposts will take over from there?

Camp sites: I haven’t booked a camp site. What one should I go to if I’m turning up on spec? It seems some are pre-book only and some are not? Someone said it may be possible to camp in the car parks unofficially?

Camping: I’ve never been camping either. What’s the SP with the tent? Do you set up at the end of each day and then pack up in the morning before heading to the circuit or is it safe to leave set up for the weekend (with valuables locked out of sight in car when you’re gone)?

Friday night: What’s going on? I’m arriving about 9-10 pm. Is there a particularly good bar I should make a bee-line for? I also fancy getting a decent meal in on the Friday night as well (i.e. not a burger and fries). Any recommendations?

I’m sure all you old hands have most of this covered between you

P.S. Bought a fab tent today for just 40 EUR (15 EUR for a sleeping bag – 90% polyester… ewwwww ). Had a dry run in the garden and it’s perfect. I so please with it I’m going to have to go down the pub to spend the money I’ve save on buying it

Edit: Forgot to add, very important: Booze!!! Is there a plentiful supply around the circuit or should I stock up before leaving? I imagine by 3 pm on Sunday the trackside stalls will have run out of everything?

Even Better just head for Le MAns then follow the Blue signs(and countless over British Motors) with Blue on... This will lead to Camping Blue and Parking Blue. You can usually haggle and get in Camping Blue(use a decoy get a friend to chat to the farmer on the gate and sneak in while he is distracted ) if not Parking Blue is also an unofficial campsite and i have camped in both of these before without booking up.Turning up at 10-11pm though may be a bit of squeeze to get in.

Tent will be ok left up all weekend with like you say valuables looked up or taken with you.
Pleanty of Bars around Arnage that are good or you can venture into Le Mans for some restuarants too.

Enjoy Its a great experience
