Another one! Pity is that EBay has become uninterested in stopping such dsgraces. No doubt you have reported it and so have I. But the fact is that many of these ads establish the contacts that the seller is seeking. Which ought not to happen. But it does because EBay allow it to continue.
I believe you need to take it up with trading standards and if they give ebay the nod, then ebay will act. This is what happened with laser pens over a certain power.
I should point out this forum seemed happy about ebayers selling fake stamps for loud exhausts in the past.

If you really want to upset eBay politely remind them if any of these ringing kits are used they are aiding and abetting the theft of a motor vehicle, fraud and/or other offences like tax evasion (using a tax free id' on a later model for example).

That usually works. wink

I have long wanted to do this, but how? There is no opportunity to add text to the usual Report I use for these.

I think that's OK. There is a physical car, not an imaginary pile of atoms to go with the V5.

You'll find that car is (or used to be) "Q571 ATV" and is the real genuine Dutton GT40 inspired replica. The only one ever made thankfully. smile

Quite.

Another one to avoid I suggest. The provenance looks distinctly shady to me. Kit car manufactureres I am in contact with In the Midlands see such cars regularly. Duttons are the favourite cheap car to use in transferring (illegally) the registration from an old wreck and making the car apparently road legal. Their advice is to avoid these motors because the reality of what has happened can result in VOR notices being issued on the spot and there is Zero chance of an economic affordable solution.

Years ago I used to regularly buy unfinished kits. At that time registration was much less onerous. I am much more circumspect now because the game has changed and registering unrecorded heavily modified cars is no easy feat any more. I think the number of these for sale suggests others can see the writing on the wall. The barefaced cheek some vendors is laughable. As I suggested above best avoided IMO.

Having observed your interest in modified cars over some time, I never doubted you were correct in that this was at some point registered as a Dutton. It does seem odd to me if the car is as RochdaleGT suggests using a 1969 registration. Do we know what the registration actually is on the car currently? I cannot see this in the adverts. I have known Tim Dutton Wolley for many years and doubtless he would remember such a car? It just seems odd to me but perhaps there is an explanation available?

Q571 ATV is on a retention certificate at the moment and was last registered in Nottingham. The plot thickens. wink

How on earth did that happen ? I thought Q plates were a permanent fixture and couldn't be transferred in either direction.

As far as I know that is definitely the case. I have been building kit cars for more than 50 years and I have never seen or heard about any Q plate on retention ever. The plot certainly does thicken! I am utterly amazed at this. I do not trust this matter at all.

Not quite what it seems I think. Sale appears genuine: sadly not uncommon for refurb cars to be left in bits when the supposed repairers go belly up. However I cannot see if the main subframes are still there on this car. If they are then the structure as such may be extent and it might be possible to get it back on the road without a chassis change. If the chassis has gone or if the main subframes are out then it is a dead duck.

First line of description - "no chassis or running gear".

Certainly in the right place on here then. Well spotted.

I would avoid this at all costs. I assume you have reported this to Ebay and excellent work to spot this.

Why would you avoid it at all costs? Sounds serious.
