I've been recommended the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX503.

Would you lot agree?

I'm not that into tech as you've probably guessed.

Cheers

I got the KDL 40EX710 earlier this year and I'm very happy.

Like you I'm not into tech and only knew I didn't want 3D, but other things like the internet function are surprisingly useful - the kids are always watching cartoons on YouTube.

HD picture quality is great and everything else is how I would want it. Only complaint is the remote control is a bit crap.

Why are you deliberately excluding 3D? Most 3D screens are superior in 2D performance than 2D only screens now.

I didn't know that, I'm just not into the whole 3D thing, it gives me a headache.

I thought 3D TVs would be more expensive just because it has that new tech. If most new TVs come with it then that's fine.

That ST30 I linked you before is a cracking set, I have the 55" version and I love it.

Well I've decided on what TV. I went to John Lewis this weekend to look at that Panasonic tv in the link above, all was going well until I saw this new Samsung smart TV.
It was amazing! But a LOT over my budget.
So I've decided to get the same model but a small size, 46" instead of 55".
It's going to cost £1800 but my gf get's 12% discount in JL which is a nice bonus.

Does anyone know if the sound bar is a worthwhile bit of kit?

Model of TV: Samsung UE46D8000

If you like the D8000 over a VT30 some yoghurt pots and string will probably see you right wink
