How would you find your next job?

Jobsite? Monster? Local papers?

Just out of interest really as it seems to me places like Jobsite are just hundreds of agencies. I know a lot of companies don't use the agencies so how do they advertise for and source employees?

Sending CVs in on spec, having contracts in the industry, and headhunting.

Industry? Sector? Your competencies? Location? Then I'd network at relevant events, send outcomes based CV to targeted recruiters (whom I'd spoken with first), polished up on my interview techniques, sorted out my interview clobber, and do all of that again. Good luck!

Since I got in to IT 10 years (and 6 jobs) ago all my jobs have been found via contacts and recruiters phoning me.

Linkedin works well. I've been approached again via it after getting my
Current job through it

Either word of mouth or jobserve, though I often get offers from agents too

Can I ask; was that through people you have connections with at other companies or were you looked up? I’ll have to get a profile set up and get out there.

All interesting replies, certainly seem fitting as I’m looking to take the next step up the career path.

On both occasions I was looked up.

I do have lots of contacts at recruiters which is useful as if needs be they can get me in the door on their opinion alone which cuts all the cv bullst out.
