So, who is going?

And what are you looking at?

Last year, I was very impressed by two totally different boats. The 50' Sunseeker Predator was just gorgeous, but the 50' Beneteau Trawler was immensively practical.

Tomorrow, I am going to look at 44 footers. I don't think that we would use a 50 foooter as much as a 44 footer.

Well make sure you have a good look at the Princess P42. It's actually 45 foot long and rather than try to re-invent the wheel Princess have refined the flybridge concept until it's pretty much millimetre perfect. The D6 435hp engines give a great balance between power and economy, it jumps straight up on the plane.

Back up from Princess Swanwick has been exemplary and 4 years down the line we haven't had a single breakdown or voyage stopping incident. A couple of snagging issues but all dealt with quickly and all par for the course on a boat.

Large enough to cross the channel or provide extended cruising, small enough to sneak onto the town quay at Lymington in the off season.

A very safe buy in my opinion and well sought after when you want out. Make sure you get a genny fitted.

It's a shame you're not looking for a 50 footer, we've just lauched this at the Show:

Well...

I've been to the show, and I am more confused than ever.

I looked at the Broom 455, and it is absolutely georgeous. I also looked at the Benetau 44 ft. Swift Trawler, and it is *comfortable*.

I never thought that getting older would mean that I would seriously consider a Beneteau motorboat.

My old boss is now heading up design at Broom, I've not seen the 455 in the flesh yet. I'll pass you complements on to him. smile

Fairline's new Targa 50 will be launched there, and I know it's going to be very impressive. Targa also do a 44 open although it's an older boat now. The Squadron 42 is great value and there will be a Squadron 50 soon too!

Hi,

Just a couple of little corrections. The Targa 50 was launched at the London Boatshow back in January, and the Squadron 50 has just been launched at this show.

Please do.

The boat looked absolutely lovely.

A year ago, it looked like Broom, a great British boatbuilding name, was going to dissappear. It was really quite heartwarming to see new Brooms on the water again. It was also very nice to see that the new model appeared to be of the same build quality as the older boats.

Still the same guys building, but new management, and new design team. A winning combination I reckon! I think in about 18 months time you'll start to see some really interesting boats from them.

OOh no can't get drawn into slagging bathtub boat builders off, but Ollie can get away with it, being as he at least designs for the second best british builder. wink

PS I owe you a mail and we'll probably sort something for next week, weather permitting.
