Good programme - can't believe they dropped live ordnance on the last run though; suspect a separate device for effect.

They didn't. The live bomb was lowered in by crane.

It's a repeat, it was on ages ago but still interesting and worth a watch.

Blimey, and therefore wins an 'EM' (Eric Medal for Outstanding Progammes) - slightly rarer than the VC!

I certainly domn't think all TV docs with an aviation theme are rubbish.
This one gets an EM and Bar.

You can't win the same medal twice at one outing. It will have to be an 'EM with Calculators'.

Did seem a lot of trouble to go to to prove nothing in particular though. The main engineering problem they had was caused by having to spin the 'bomb' before take off rather than in flight, totally different from the real raid.

Was an interesting show. I wonder if they even bothered to try and make it in the UK. I bet the health and safety aspect killed that idea stone dead.

I agree, I thought it was completely pointless.

There are loads of films from the Air Ministry showing both Hi-ball and Upkeep; the effect of explosive in water and against the wall (including the demolishing of the dam in Wales); and while I applaud the raising of awareness of the difficulty of the raid (like it needs it), I don't think it expanded knowledge very much.
