D8000 - what kit to get with it?
Discussion
Should have my 55" D8000 next week.
Question is, what should I be looking to get in addition to the set itself (not necessarily freebies).
Is the digital remote thingy any good?
Additional speakers a must? Will a soundbar alone do?
(tv will be wall mounted in an average size room. And the less visible wires the better)

Try the TV out and see how you get on with it first. I have the miniature 46" version and I'm still amazed at how good it sounds. Very thin TV's normally sound rubbish, but I think the Sammy sounds quite good. There are a few settings that make it sound flat, but 'Movie' mode peps it up a bit.
As per your other post, Blu Ray is essential. I use a PS3 which works well as a media hub and blu ray player, but outside your budget and probably overkill too! I'm sure somebody will be along with a suggestion soon!
Back to sound...if you find it a bit weak, then a soundbar will work fine, it depends what you want from the system and what your budget it. If you're a movie buff, then a screen like that deserves a proper AV Receiver and 5.1

I'm hoping to mount up ours tonight but I had a chance to sneak a peek at the other kit I got in a bundle, specifically the sammy remote that looks like an iPhone, the Skype cam and bluray player.
Apparently, the bluray player is a very impressive dvd upscaler and loads up discs quickly. Silent runner too. The remote is perhaps a little gimmicky but you can transfer the picture from the tv to the unit to watch elsewhere within the wireless coverage. I've read mixed reviews about the Skype cam from those saying it has a very limited field of view and perhaps a great deal of pixelation. I'm not expecting much to be honest but it was a freebie so will give it a shot.
If you got an android phone, search the Market for the Samsung remote. Very usefu and more importantly, free :-)

I found Richer Sounds to be a pain when I got my D8000. They sold the D8000 with a 'free' Blu Ray player and pointed out that they price match. I found it cheaper elsewhere so told them. They said 'But that one doesn't come with a 'free' Blu Ray player. I explained that as the Blu Ray was 'free', then surely they they shouldn't take that in to consideration ...what with it being free. It was a lost cause and I bought From Hughes's who were great (and cheaper!)

I had John Lewis match Hughes price.Im happy using my PS3 as Blue Ray player and my Teac surround system.
Im not too bothered about the remote as I have a Harmony jobbie, but the idea of tv on the move/in other rooms sounds good.... (hmmm bathroom viewing device)
I have the 46" version and it's very very impressive.
The sound was pretty good too but I still went and bought a sound bar with wireless sub woofer. Oh my what a difference!
I have also synced my iPhone to the TV too so it now acts as another controller!
I'm having difficulty viewing my vids on my iPhone via the TV, pictures work fine but videos don't. Anyone got any ideas?
Oh also played call of duty and gran turismo in 3D too, that was pretty impressive too
