Well just seen a supposed teaser trailer for it on youtube. As a total batman nerd, not impressed by the Bane shot. wrong type of mask,wrong person playing him,and now have serious doubts about how he will be portrayed. last 2 films have been good. more of true reproduction of batman. but Bane is more than just a villain. he is the man who broke the bat ! mow tom hardy just is not the man for the job. too small

What do you want? Some guy in a ridiculous rubber suit? It doesn't fit the with the whole realistic Nolan universe. It will be absolutely brilliant. Tom Hardy is an excellent choice. You will be eating your words.

If you've been following the filming, you'll see that there are loads of photographs online of Hardy in the full Bane get-up. Mask and all. Multiple tumblers, Anne Hathaway riding a Batpod etc etc.

ya know as a film and tv make up fx artist , when i saw the test shots of the joker make up i thought nooooo this is bks...... when i actually saw heath ledger play the part i thought god damn they nailed it as a real world character. insane beleivable and although the make up looked simple it realy isnt.... i know folk who did that and know how it was acheived... it was something else ands made a real difference to how us mfx artists work.... now bane yeah in the comics he's huge but remember joel schumachers realisation..... huge guy with mask but looked crap in a big way.... this guy is the one who played bronson in the movie of the same name and is very good. i can see him pulling off a real world bane...... just remember Nolan is going for a reality based set of villain not the kinf drawn on paper.... i have total faith.

I take your points on bored. However there has been so many incarnations of the joker though out the years in the comics that the joker was not that far removed from comic version. But Bane was created and conceived as a large physical presence. extreme size and strength and intelligence. not just slightly bigger than batman. you cant just re wright the basic premise of characters. Nolan got away with it with Raz Al Ghoul, just !

This guy physically would be pretty good, acting wise no.

Powerfully built™ men who can act are rare. I agree Hardy is too small, I think someone saw he can bulk up and picked him. But he may be the best man out here for the job? Otherwise trawling through the WWE/UFC is the only answer.
Personally I think Bale is too small for Batman, I prefer the books where Batman is pretty fraking huge, like the Dark Knight, but Bale is an ace Batman so it's swings and roundabouts.

I won't comment on how bad it will be, because Nolan hasn't made a bad film for me yet.
But...I know it will be leagues better than this interpretation!!

Tom Hardy may not be very tall either but I think you're forgetting the tricks the camera can pull. You wouldn't have guessed Tom Cruise was as small as he is by watching Collateral for example.

Yes too small, he is6 foot, maybe 5'11. A taller actor wouldn't stretch the reality.

Too small according to who?

6 feet isn't small for a start, not to mention someone's height can easily be altered for the screen to appear bigger/smaller so it's in no way a deciding factor unless you're talking about extremes. (a midget, say)

You can have too small, but Bale isn't - surely that honour goes Keaton in the Burton Batman Movie

I think it's better to have a good actor that slavishly try and recreate the comic book look, but it's a balancing act, and Burton's Superman with Nic Cage for eg would have been awful.

I wouldn't have said Tom Hardy was too small. Shorter than Bale, but if he's in the same shape as he was in Warrior then he's certainly imposing: people were literally gasping in the cinema the first time he was on screen without a shirt! He's also an exceptional actor.

According to me quite obviously (and the DC database)! As I wrote quite clearly in my previous post, I prefer the books where Batman is a monster. And yes for a super hero, 6 feet is small.

I think for Bane he is too small, but yeh, he is a great actor and there may not be a better choice for a name.

Yeh I agree that it is better to have a decent actor that to slavishly try and recreate the ook, I just like things as they should be
Burton said he wanted an 'average' person (Burton is 5'10) for Batman. Which I thought was pretty stupid since Batman 'in story' is a phenomenal athlete of decent size.
