Concorde flights from airshows
Discussion
They did the odd flypast, but never a display- I can remember Biggin one year in the early 90s. And also at brands one year for the GP- they persuaded the pilot to go in really low...
...so low that the airflow shock the grandtands, and lots of dust and crap from the roof fell down...
...just as everyone was looking up. They had never seen so many eye issues at the st johns ambulance!

I was talking to my Dad earlier, and he seemed to remember Concorde flying at a Mildenhall airshow and offering 'pleasure' flights from (and back to!) the airshow.
Has anyone heard of this, if so what kind of costs were involved?!
What a day out that would have been
Yes, Concorde did do this........ but never in-out of Mildenhall.Has anyone heard of this, if so what kind of costs were involved?!

It certainley did from the RIAT Fairford shows, and I remember an Air France one doing this at a RAF Finingley Battle of Britain show in 1992 - the same show as the last shows of Vulcan XH558 when in RAF use.

I've done a little Googling and found this:It certainley did from the RIAT Fairford shows, and I remember an Air France one doing this at a RAF Finingley Battle of Britain show in 1992 - the same show as the last shows of Vulcan XH558 when in RAF use.

Amazing, chartered Concorde for the day (and Dad's memory isn't gone completely!)

I've still got a grey folder from when I flew round the Bay of Biscay in her, would have been a charter in 1986. I must dig it out and see what's in there.
ETA I think we were on board the first time she landed at East Midlands, I do remember Look East cameras covered the landing so it must have been a pretty special flight.

Not an air show, but Concorde used to do sub-sonic and supersonic pleasure trips out of LBA. At that time I'd never flown so I was saving like mad to go on one as it would have been cool for my first experience of flying to be on Concorde. Unfortunately the batch of trips that they ran just before I'd saved up enough (it was well over £1k by then) were the last ones they did, so I missed out. I was just reminiscing about all of this yesterday as I did the Concorde tour at MAN.

I know a couple of people that did the Mach Experience, cost circa £200 I think about 20 years ago mind.
My parents+grand parents and brother did this. It was thought that my brother was the youngest at the time to travel on Concorde as he was only a few months old. Notice how everyone BUT me managed to fly on it aeropilot said:

They offered two routes, one over the Bay of Biscay that went supersonic, and another to Gatwick.
It was fantastic, remember a rumour that the Captain got a bit of a ticking off for flying too low over Mildenhall!

We might have been at the same one!...so low that the airflow shock the grandtands, and lots of dust and crap from the roof fell down...

I can remember a Concorde doing a touch-and-go at Biggin. Full beans from the touch. Set off all the alarms in the car park. Unforgettable.

Remember it very well, as my Dad was in Mildenhall Rotary Club at the time and we went on one of the flights.

You were local to me then, I grew up in Brandon They offered two routes, one over the Bay of Biscay that went supersonic, and another to Gatwick.

Which route did you travel? I thought I remembered Dad saying they flew out to the Bay of Biscay but I wasn't sure. It must have been amazing! Sadly I was too young to experience Concorde
And it wasn't just BA. Air France ran pleasure flights and special trips with their Concordes too. In 1983, they ran a special Paris - Dublin flight to take Irish punters to the "Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe" horse race. It was the first ever visit of a Concorde to Dublin and thousands came out to see it.
Southend Airshow 86,87,89 they done the round the Bay of Biscay and over Southend Pier and back run.

Only bad thing about it was the Vulcan didn't appear until 91.
Missed a trick there, eight Olympus in the air at once.
Did they ever appear together?
