Yamaha YHTS400 vs. Panasonic SCHTB520

Trying to weigh up these two.
I have a Panny LCD my first thought was the Panansonic SCHTB520 but the Yamaha YHTS400 seems to claim better surround sound effect. However the Yamaha receiver/sub unit is designed to sit in the TV cabinet which I think might be a bad idea considering the proximity of my Xbox 360 and Blu ray player.
Anyone got direct experience?
