How to find a temporary labourer

I might need to hire a labourer to help me move some equipment, only a couple of day's work and at short notice. I've looked through wanted ads on Gumtree etc. but no luck in my area (south east). Can someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure hanging around outside the job centre would make me very popular!
