So I have been reading fair few posts on here saying it's vital to find a decent recruitment consultant when looking for a new job.

So are there any good consultants who specialise in mannagement consultant roles in and around London.

I am looking at junior / associate levels as my past roles are finance based but not in a consultancy capacity...

I'm afraid decent RCs are about as thick on the ground as reliable journalists,
honest politicians, reputable used car salesmen and trustworthy estate agents.

Good luck finding one.

I've been dealing with them for over twenty years and, of the hundreds
I've deal with, I can count ones I'd be willing to recommend on the fingers of one hand.

I can't understand why thick and recruitment consultant came into your mind!

Most of the ones I've encountered recently can do word search, but any level of understanding is completely beyond them.

Largely both. The recruiter dont necessarily understand the role behind the terminology and what it actually entails therefore cannot assess whether your skill set will cover it.

I think there is a mixed bag of a problems. They also dont want to put people for a role which their skillset doesnt quite match for fear of upsetting the client. For the same reasons they wont tell you about roles that dont exactly meet your skillset.

My brother did IT recruitment and a mutual friend of ours does.
There is another thing i have come across which is that recruiters talk to each other cross agency i believe and there are plenty of contractors out there who get a bad name by making the recruiter look bad.

A common complaint from my brother and other recruiters is of placements leaving before end of contract or being pushed by either not knowing the role or being difficult thereby costing them their placement bonus and making them look bad with the company they placed.

Decent recruitment consultant? That's an oxymoron if ever I saw one.
