Mini Cooper Window Shattered - No Sign of Vandalism - Help!

Hi,
I own a 08 Mini Cooper. At the weekend I went to use my car and noticed the rear side window (passenger side) had shattered, not to the point of glass falling out but the entire pane of glass had shattered.
We have CCTV so I checked the hour between using the car, going in the house and then returning to the car. There was no sign of vandalism!
So I looked up 'Mini window shattering' and found a lot of people with the same problem. I've just put this to the customer care people at Mini and they have told me they've never heard of such a problem.
Is there anyone else out there that has experienced it? Know anybody that has? Has any explanation?
