Anyone got this setup? I'm lost in the large choice of PS3 audio options, and 605 listening modes...

My ps3 is just set to auto.
I did have some explicit settings for the ps3 was wasn't sure if it was working properly so just set back to auto.
My onkyo is running 6.1 as I don't have the room for 7.1 speaker setup so I use the Neo 6 cinema sound mode. I like the sound for gaming as well as movies.
Unless its a BluRay I'm watching on ps or htpc I'll then hit the pure button on the amp for TrueHD Audio and you get the funky blue light on..
I have had a little test of other modes but I always end up back at Neo6Cinema as my preferred setting.

So with all these Onkyo options, is it just what one you like best ... there's no 'correct' one for certain setups?

And - it's prob obvious - but where is auto audio on the PS3? Last night I was ticking & unticking dozens of 2 channel and 5.1 options at various frequencies...
Cheers

nah i dont think there is a correct setting; i would guess it could change and would depend on source and setup and your own preferences.
i run 6.1, so im not sure if Neo 6 Cinema is the best for me because im running 6.1 [which i think its optimised for], or if i was running 5.1 then maybe Theatre Dimens (which is what i used to use when i first got the amp) may be the best.

Its prob worth finding a good movie (with a minute of action and talking?) and do an A-B repeat with listening to each of the settings?
once you've found something you like the sound of you'll just always find yourself going with it anway for all your movies etc.

re: ps3 auto... erm im not sure now(!). ive been playing with it again recently (trying to setup some DD headphones for gaming) and im sure i selected something in the ps3 menu to auto rather than ticking all the boxes (as i wasnt sure what boxes to tick!), but looking at the online manual the "auto" option is not there so i'll have to check on that

I gave up trying to understand all the different settings, and usually leave it on whatever my 2 YO randomly decided to watch his programmed on. If I remember I occasionally stick it on T-Dimensional or pure audio.
