OFFICIAL CHARLTON ATHLETIC THREAD ...........
Discussion
I have a soft spot for Charlton Athletic, born in Greenwich in 1918 my Dad was a big fan . Sam Bartram was his favourite ( at 5 foot ten, not a tall goalkeeper ! ) as my Dad kept goal for his R.A.F. squadron soccer 11. At 5` 9 "
he was on the short side but could leap like a salmon, so he said.!
Great memories of going with him to the Valley to see Charlton play Fulham ( yes I`m a Fulham supporter) and then down to Craven Cottage for the return .
Good to see them doing well again and good wishes for the future.

Only £5 any seat buy online .... after our back to back 1 1 draws and your recent close out of Spurs will be a good match ..... hope you get your tickets.
Charlton clocked onto it eventually and have atleast suspended mine! Thankfully, found some tickets from a fired so I'll be there. Shocking result yesterday, just sounded like one of those where we couldn't finish our chances. A stevenage reaction is usually pretty good so Saturday should be good - although my version of good is a dull 1-0 away win carreraboy said:
Glad you got your tickets, I live 10 minutes away and would have picked one from the box office for you .... Hopefully will be a good game, Bradley Wright-Phillips is way overdue a goal or three .... We are 7 points clear, hopefully the wheels won't fall off!
Thanks for the offer. BWP really should have got those 3 goals but for some poor finishing/great goal keeping. I thought we coped well with you first half and should have gone in 1-0 up really. But second half, you lot were excellent. And coupled with the most defensive errors I've ever seen us made we were lucky to keep the 'not conceded 3 goals for ages' stat of ours.Easily the best team I've seen this season, hopefulyl we can find our form again and stay in the play offs.
Yes good game very enjoyable in the SE8 sunshine, thought Stevenage had no end game, run out of ideas at the final strike ... Bradley Wright - Phillips goal a real corker. Visitors seemed to be playing for a draw until they were behind, but then as I say they lacked a co-ordinated finish. Great atmosphere 26,500 supporters, you guys were certainly vocal. Let's hope you make the play offs and we meet next season in the Championship!
10 points clear now .....

Yep, it was a great day out apart fro mthe result. No end game is the story of us really. We pride ourselves on being boring but effective by winning 1-0 and 2-1 with the occasional thrashing when things do fall into place in the final third. 10 points clear now .....
But when your defence put in the errors we did Saturday and the strikers aren't cutting it, we get shown up. Definitely a good thing for you guys, had we put in a simialar performance to what we did against Spurs, I don't think many of your extra fans would have come back!
Yep, very proud of (most of) our supporters. Sadly a few little scumabgs have jumped on our success but that will always be the case.

following the thrashing Spurs got you should be favourites in the replay ....
If we're full strength (not only did we have a mare agaisnt you, we seem to have injured a few!) and Lennon ISN'T playing (we can't handle pace as BWP showed) I don't see why we can't grind out another 0-0 and go to penalties.Hi Carreraboy.
My OH was a Charlton season ticket holder for close on 40 years as was our daughter for about 10 years.
He has some great memories, like the Sunderland game at Wembley. He still rates that one of the best games ever. His old company sponsored the return to the Valley match against Portsmouth I believe. Got himself on the cover of one of the Charlton books walking out onto the pitch.
In the end he just got fed up with the rubbish they started playing after Curbs left. He wasn't worried which division they were in, just awful performances week in week out.
Although not recognising 90% of the team any more he still follows SKY each week. Staring at the tv screen until all the results are in.
Really hope they can get over the finishing line with ease, and not the usual stutter that gives Charlton fans heart attacks whenever they are doing well.
Last nights result might help.
Enjoy the rest of the season.
