We have a couple of LED Lenser ones, take a single AA from memory & produce a decent amount of light. Cost less than a tenner each.
The fenix E01 and the LEDlenser K1 both look a bit low on lumens and neither seem to use cree bulbs. Fenix E05 looks good.

I've got an E05 and E01. The 05 is a bit smaller, output is pretty much the same.

I do prefer the modes on the E01 though (med, low, high), it turns on in medium and the E05 goes low, med, high.

Does anyone here have a Nitecore SRT-6? I have a question, I got one a couple of days ago but the sprung positive connector inside is a bit wonky and doesn't always make contact with the battery which is a right PITA, are they all like that or is it just mine?

Evening all, I had a browse through the last 15 pages or so but can't really find what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a torch to mess about with, something that's as bright as possible. It's just going to be a toy really, something that I can annoy my friends over the river with.

Anyway, my question is thus:

Whats the brightest torch I can get for the least amount of cash? Something where the beam can be reasonably focused but aside from that I'm really not fussed about quality or after sales. If it's really cheap I don't care if I only get a bit of use out of it before it breaks.

Any ideas?

Budget more, get more though.

That's perfect, thank you!

I am usually the sort that buys fewer things of better quality (much fewer, I don't have much spare money!) but this really is just a toy with no purpose to it.

No doubt I'll be back in a few weeks asking whats the best one to get for quadruple the price, but for now I'll stick to that one hehe

Recommendations for a torch for my girlfriend's car glove box? Something under a tenner.

Thanks.

Ordered a couple for our cars! Thank you.

Was thinking these batteries for it?

Was thinking of getting a Gerber Suspension her car too, only £19 on Amazon. Do I really need to remove the knife though? Sorry for derailing the thread!

Those torches are excellent I have loads of them scattered everywhere. They work brilliantly with Li-on batteries

Pretty sure they don't take 18560 batteries though as per the ones you linked. 14500 or something I have in mine.

Also there seems to be a lot if ex lap top batteries being offered around ive never heard of that brand you linked.

I stick to Panasonic myself and for a few quid more it's worth it IMO.

This is the size you need.

Never heard of these either so can't revimend but they do say 12 month warranty. Cut ally they seem to be btl rebranded which didn't have a good rep.

I have one of those cheap torches in my car. Cost me 99p quite a while back iirc. Using a single Sanyo Eneloop AA in mine. Funnily enough I also have a cheap multitool (£5 Muji one) in the car but the blade is still in there along with a high vis vest and the usual crap in the boot.

Batteries I just use alkaline whatever I have knocking around.

The knife has a lock which makes it illegal, chance of getting into trouble for it is very low mind. i just like modding stuff tbh. It takes 2x T9 torx bits to do, i stripped both sides down then just put the scissors and screw drivers back on the 1 side.

You need a good reason to have it in a public place (don't count on 'just in case.') But I'm sure others can comment on the chances of it ever being an issue for something that's sat with other tools in the boot.

If you're passing a Go Outdoors incidentally, save yourself a couple of quid and get it for £16 - they'll price match online retailers then knock another 10% off the price. (Handier offer on a £180 sleeping bag or pair of boots than an £18 knife, but if there's one nearby you'll get it quicker anyway.)

Ahh - you're correct. Looks like they do a pack with the torch, two 14500 batteries and a charger for £11.99

Would be rude not to buy an extra torch for £2 more too!

Great tip - do occasionally pop in Go Outdoors!

So much want in this thread....

I figure I need a couple of torches:

1 simple touch using 2 AA batteries max, could be swayed by those CR123 batteries I guess. Needed for walking the dog at night.

1 can be slightly beefier just for fun, but adjustable downwards to also use to walk the dog at night!

Most these days are adjustable. What'd your budget smile

I've asked for a tk75 for Christmas now I know exactly what I need in a torch.

don't think it's going to happen frown looks like I'll have to attack the card again.

I was about to reply, relatively flexible, then I saw how much that tk75 is!

Not sure really, I might have to re-calibrate my mental value assignments of how much a torch should cost. I think I'd like to keep the total for 2 to around £100. But a little persuadable I guess...
