Sky + for parents

My folks have Sky. They have just lost analogue and the VCR. I suggested sky + but sky have told them on the phone they don't do sky+ and they need to look on the web site! They are in their 70s!
What are the options, as they don't really want to spend much more. Could I get a old sky+ box and ask sky for a + account?

If you buy the box you can just ask Sky to activate the plus features for them.

You may well find Sky + is no longer the basic, after all there is now sky 3D so it may be HD is the basic.
