Bespoke chassis and running gear, and a chevy V8.

It's not really a shad, is it?
Agreed. It's a silhouette.
Quick for a brick though.

Can you still here the clock ticking at 60 mph?

Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of motoring nostalgia.

Two things stand out:

1. There's a wonderful line in there that reads: "People who feel diffident about driving a Rolls Royce can drive a Bentley", and
2. Another paragraph reads: "The Rolls Royce radiator has never changed, except that when Sir Henry Royce died in 1933 the monogram RR was changed from red to black". Well ... it's taken another 70 years give or take for BMW to sacrilegiously nullify the famous radiator shell into a pale imitation of what it should be. The one on the Phantom is loud and proud and as it should be ... whereas the front of the new baby roller is nothing short of an abomination.

I love the AA and RAC badges - imagine the look when they arrived to take a look at "electrical issues" on your old Shadow!

Love that, reminds me of this Blown Hemi RR Pro Street car I saw a few years ago in the States. I would love to roll up to a RR owners meet in this cool

Yes, that's what I was thinking of. It was at SEMA a couple of years back. However, that one is obviously more show than go, wheras the one in the OP is a proper drag car.

Love these kinds of conversions; must make the concours RR enthusiasts have nightmares!

Not really. They're just body shells. Rolls Royce & Bentley is about chassis & drivetrain, not coachwork.

IMO coachwork is very much a part of old Bentleys and Rollers.

Just to make a point; Rolls Royce have used Chevrolet V8s in the past.
In what, their delivery trucks?
I know they've used GM transmissions, what engines have they used?

[Adenoidal voice]I think you'll find Rolls Royce actually used a slightly different grade of steel in their genuine Silver Shadows, so it certainly can't be called a real Rolls Royce[/adenoidal voice]

FFS people, just enjoy the story rather the getting anal about it rolleyes PistonHeads: Pedantry Matters.

Looks like a lot of fun to methumbup
