Been reading Pistonheads for ages now so thought its about time i signed up and shared my experiences.

Although my trusty steed may not be as exotic or quick as most of the metal on these pages i don't care. I love driving this jaloppy. Oh and I can make a brew and have a kip in the back if i wish.

Have owned it over a year now. Future plans include tweeking the fuel and boost as well as fitting a Mitsi l200 inter cooler and de-cat pipe. It wont set the world alight but any extra horses will help. I also plan to refit the interior over the winter to make next years camping adventures a little more comfortable.

My other motor is this,

Currently sitting the the garage over winter waiting for me to finish building a 2110 stroker engine

Loving the van I love my caddy, but apparently they don't make them in petrol...or any van for that matter .
Sorry just ranting about another post.
I've always fancied one of those we get loads of surfer boys with the T4s down our way (on the coast).

I do like a van, must be ideal for the vdub shows. I'm sure I've seen that somewhere before, I recognise the stripes. Nice bug too, I used to have an orange one myself back in my VW days, cool choice of wheels.

The T4, AKA the Cornish Transit!

They did make the VW Transporter in 2.0l petrol. Think it used the same engine as the mk3 GTI 8v. There is also a VR6 version. Both not as popular as the diesels but they are about.

I think you might mean the Sharan - that was available as a 2.8 VR6. A couple of my buddies have a T4 and T5 Transporters, we've nailed both of them across Europe over the last couple of summers going to Berg Cup and Nurburgring, they've both been superb 5 up with associated crap in the back drinkburgersmokinparty

Nice '03, was it as hard as everyone says to get the front that low?

The 03 is lowered on adjustable Kerscher coil overs on the front with smart car tyres. The rear is dropped with 2" dropped spring plates from red 9 design. All pretty much off the shelf parts. Rides really nice for a bug.

Not sure if you could get the T4 van with a VR6 here but you could definitely get the Caravelle etc. versions with it. 174 bhp I believe.

Yea i meant its the Caravelle that comes with a VR6. I did look at one once, nice engine but the rest of the van was rubbish.

Just ordered myself an upgraded headlight loom for the van. Its a common design fault that the T4 lights are rubbish. They only get something like 9v because of the stupid way VW routed the wires. Might be able to see where im going now on these dark mornings.
