Having had the S5 for a while of which I think is fantastic I now want to add another Zone. Cannot decide whether to add the smaller Play 3 in the bedroom and put my S5 downstairs or just leave the S5 in the bedroom and get ZP90 and plug that into the surround sound system. Anybody have experience of the ZP90 or the Play 3? just cannot decide what to do for the best

ZP90 is only as good as your surround sound. I have one and love it. Much better sound coming from a decent SS.

The Play 3 is disappointing.. Very tinny sound

Get the ZP90 IMO

I'd definitely use a ZP90 to make use of your system. The Sonos S5/3 are great, but won't be as good as a proper set-up with speakers spaced out to get a stereo effect.

The only slight problem with the ZP90 is that you have to remember to turn your stereo on each time you use it! I get used to just flicking music around the house with the S5/3s.

Agree, you have to abuse the eq setting on the P3 to get it sounding ok. Not a patch on the P5 or Zp90 surround sound options.

Get another S5, it then gives you the option of Party mode where basically you can set one S5 to be the left speaker and the other S5 as the right speaker then you can get propper spacing and also as the name implies is also great for parties, then when your finished you can split them back into two zones again.

I have a ZP90 in the living room, connected to an Arcam amp + AE speakers. Sounds fantastic and is my main music player.

Got a Play:3 in the conservatory and am pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds - really full, meaty sound without distortion. Love it and wouldn't personally have a use for a play:5 anywhere as the play:3 would do just fine.

My house is littered with Sonos kit.

Play 3 is ideal for a bedroom, unless you need major volume - when budget allows, if you ever wanted another Play 3, they make a fantastic (and small) stereo pair. Ideal for a bedroom.

Your S5 would be great in kitchen and/or dining room.

I have a ZP90 plugged (optically) into a Musical Fidelity pre-amp, on to MF mono blocks and into Ruarks. It sounds great. I would keep your ZP90 for your main hi fi system

I had a demo of a Ply 3 and 5 today. Whilst the 5 undoubtedly has a deeper/richer sound I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Play 3 sound was.

Good, best way to test the performance, at least you can make a good informed dessision now.

I'm not the OP - although I too am now looking at the Play 5 for the kitchen and a Connect (Formerly the ZonePlayer 90) for streaming Spotify to my Denon amp smile
