Not sure if you're still looking, but I'm relatively sure it belongs to the (perhaps now ex) Mayor of Winchester. I recall seeing the plate on an older shape black Merc S-Class a couple of years back that belonged to him.
Not entirely sure if he is still the Mayor or not now though, this was perhaps 5 years ago.

This gives me hope since I'm only a few miles East of Winchester. I'll try to track the ex-Mayor down and make him an offer for Y1 TRY. It should go nicely with Y 1 CAN.

As it happens, I actually saw the mayors car on Sunday. The plate is still on an S class, but a new one now. Unfortunately, however, it's not 'Y1 TRY', it's just 'TR I' - Sorry mate, my memory fails me some times!
The plate TR1 is on the Mayor of Southampton's car, not the Mayor of Winchester.
