Hey,

I don't know how many of you have seen them, but 4-5 months ago a guy called Kevin Tancharoen created a promo trailer for a potential reboot of the Mortal Kombat movie franchise, link to the video below:

Mortal Kombat Rebirth

While he didn't get the go ahead to make a feature film, he was given funding to prouce a number of webisodes. Each webisode focuses on a different character from Mortal Kombat and Kevin uses different styles to try and showcase what he can do.

They are all very good, with a dark and gritty feel to them. He has moved away from some of the outlandishness associated with the franchise and has instead concentrated on making the films more realistic, el la Christopher Nolan.

I've linked the first one below and you can then watch the rest from the links in Youtube:

Mortal Kombat Legacy Episode 1

Anyway, they are very good. So good in fact, that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros have now given Kevin Tancharoen the go ahead to make a full movie.

Watch the webisodes and then tell me I'm not the only one pissing my pants in anticipation...

The camera work in that one above is shoddy when he's doing the fight sequence.

Definitely a lot of potential there.

The orignal movie is still one of my ultimate guilty pleasures, and the soundtrack played a big part in me discovering music that wasn't just in the Top 40. The sequel was however, truly abysmal
