Shed of the week? Seat Toledo V5
Discussion
I just had a good look through the history of SOTW and think that what EVO described as an underated Q car hasn't yet seen glory in the best bit of Pistonheads. They certainly are in budget, as I picked up a cracking fully loaded, 90k, 2001, 170bhp for 975 yesterday. I was really looking for a Leon Cupra, but this was so tidy, drove so tight, and the seller seamed like a verry nice bloke with a passion for cars, I had to have it. Oh and the noise.
What do you lot think? (scroll down the page for the pics)

Good to hear. It will be on motorways pretty much all the time so I am hoping for some pretty good numbers.
One of the stand out things is how together it feels. Compared to the Alfa 147 of the same vintage I had before it. That was in bits by comparison. Yes I will have to seal up the door card inners as it is a little leaky, but much better than other examples I looked at. Roll on the 12th when it gets pointed towards the channel for over 1000 miles in two days.

EPIC! EPIC! EPIC! This could be the best car for Pistonhead Shed money ever! Its a bargain.
Smashing cruise from Essex back to Ipswich. 80mph returned 30mpg plus, and it was going up all the time. Not a single rattle, rumble, or bump to be heard. Climate control very cosy, and the MFD Sat Nav stereo was very surprising. The best OE system I've heard since the Apline one in my old Volvo S60 SE's, and every bit as good as my housemates 58 plate Scirocco. The V5 sounds great, much like the inline turbo 5 pot in that old S60 too.
I'm a very happy cash strapped petrol head tonight.

The back doors will leak water into the rear footwells.
It will hit the sump of the road. Try not to crack it.
MAFS, you will be replacing it often enough, its not a maybe its a will.
Gearboxes, make sure you are stopped before changing from reverse to forward and vice versa.
The factory speakers are really good, get a decent headunit in them and they wont disapoint.
I really loved my Toledo, it got scrapped in the end because I had put twice what it had cost me in it in repairs in two years and I couldnt justify spending another grand or so on it.

I had one of these brand new in Imperial blue when they were first released in 1999, only a 150hp one but was a really nice well spec'd comfortable motor for what it cost at the time. Great sound from the 5 pot as mentioned. T377HBD where are you now Oh, and yes watch the sumps, I bashed mine and was £180ish to replace...
Well done OP. This is one very underrated car - what alot of people don't realise is that this is much sharper to drive than the Golf it's based on. The value is great certainly compared to the more popular Leon, plus the equipment is emmense - my old one had Sat-nav, 4xelec windows, elec seats, sunroof, half leather, climate control, cruise control, - i know i might be sounding like a fanboy here but they are that good!
