Acquired this Mini last weekend.

1997 Mini Cooper Sport. Pretty much as standard apart from the 13x7 wheels, large bore exhaust (RC40 I think with rolled tip) and Mk 1 wavy grille. Previous owner had spent a lot of time (and money) to restore the car to the current condition.

I have owned a few of these now but this is my first 1.3 Mpi (multi-point injection). All others previously were either carb or 1.3 Spi.

First impressions are it being noticably quicker than carb or Spi models with such luxuries as twin (yes, twin!) speed heating fan. The 13x7's make the steering pretty heavy at slow speeds but certainly 'beef' up the car's looks.

Anyway, for all you Classic Mini fans, I hope you like her (pictures taken outside my friend's pub)

That looks fantastic, in my experiance theres bond to be some rust MPI's are terrible for it.

Just a quick question are they marks in the dash or is it the grain?

Thanks for all your comments.

Fortunately, the car has had many new panels including wings, scuttle, inner wings, inner flitch panels, sills, rear valance, floor panels, a panels and (I think) rear subframe.

There is a tiny bit of action at the bottom of the driver's door which looks likely to develop into rust unless treated (although in my experience, a new door skin is the only way to stop the tinworm on these doors).

The dash has some cracks in the lacquer around the gauge pods which shows in the pictures.

Overall though, very happy with the car and is in really good condition. And our two kids LOVE it!
