Given the ststorm on another thread it did pique my interest on overrev warnings logged in the DME on 997 GT3/GT3 RS cars.

Does anyone know what these are?

Blimey Range 6 >9500revs for a 997 Carrera and >11,000 for a GT3, that must sound painful yikes

Above rev range 4 (I think) u can't get extended warranty for ur gt3
Mines rev range 1 - which I'm told it's bounced off the limiter

Yeah ditto - think it's something tiny like 30 ignitions in range 1. Just wondering given the above data, how it'd be possible to rev past a limiter set at 8500 to hit 9000 rpm!! 500 rpm is some way off!

missing a gear on upshift eg4 th to 3rd rather than 5th. and the inertia of the car takes the revs up past the electric limiter.

Imagine driving flat out through the gears and then f*@king up the change from 4th to 5th and getting third gear.....

I have seen it done several times once in an Evo6, I nearly went through the windscreen

The GT3 gearbox in the 997 is so bloody notchy, it'd have to be a really ham-fisted change to slot the wrong gear in that scenario thankfully. I'd rather be sure and suffer that 0.5 sec time penalty to get the right ratio, than slot 1st for 3rd, or 3rd for 5th!!

At the last standing mile event I organised one competitor brushed reverse enroute to 5th gear and then successfully managed to select 3rd whilst still doing about 140mph.
The result, new engine, box and clutchyikes

I open links to that video all the bloody time. When it loads I realise I've already seen it. And I watch it the whole way through. Again. And again.

It's a great vid. Makes me happy to have a Mezger in the bumblebee.

Hope you're well, mate!

Hey Ben, I'm well thanks - have to go for a beer some time soon!

You around Balham again in the next few weeks?

With a beer in the offing I think I should add the Balhamas to my list of places to visit in the coming weeks, yes.
