Hi,

I've got an interview next week with a government body in Newport, Wales. I've looked around the net but not been able to find the pay scales for the area?

I wondered if anyone maybe worked in the area and knew the scale for a position advertised at "up to £34,347"?

I'm guessing it starts around £30k but was just curious.

Thanks,
Ry

I'm not clear from your post if you mean by 'area' the actual geography or the industry. If its the geography, there are web sites that give average earnings by postcode. If it's for the role, you'd have to say what the role was, the level at which you are looking to enter and the employer.

Its not an industry type thing, the government/councils just have set pay scales.

I've been able to fidn them easily before but i cant seem to locate them for Newport.

Here is an example for Cheltenham: http://www.cheltenham.gov.uk/site/scripts/download...

Local Government payscales are the same up and down the country, it doesn't vary between councils.

Here's a link to the current payscales:
http://www.navca.org.uk/nr/rdonlyres/33515254-9306...

They were last updated in 2009-10 as there's been a pay freeze since then.
