What a farce. Cracking first half with some tremendous play... then the diving fest begins.

3 pens that weren't with a ludicrous sending off and then every contact involves rolling around feigning who is hurt the most. The team leading use every opportunity to create controversy and waste even more time. Virtually no footballing skills on show at all for the last half hour.

A very sorry spectacle.
I feel the same. Too many people gloss over the cheating, conning, diving because of the great play. There are some great players on show - yet it's spoiled by unsportsmanlike conduct.

El Clasico - more like El Circus.

Two of the biggest 'small time' clubs in the world.
Totally agree, the second half was absurd. Ref seemingly playing his part in it and trying to steal center stage doesn't help either. Say what you like about the EPL but at least most of the time the teams actually want to play football and not rely solely on cheating and deception.
What a load of complete xenophobic bks.

3 pens, the first was a foul just outside the box but at such speed that you couldn't blame the ref for not spotting that. The 2nd was debateable, but after 10 slo mo replays for 5 different angles it was still hard to say if there was contact or not. Couldn't blame the ref for that either. And the 3rd was a stonewall penalty.

It was fabulous entertainment and some brilliant football was played. And the penalty taking was just superb. What's not to like?
Busquets stamping on Pepe's head? Fabregas and Pepe rolling around like they got koshed after they squared up to each other? Neymar's play acting? Di Maria's play acting?

Both teams are fantastic but some of the things they do make me cringe, I find it totally pathetic. But that is, of course, all in my opinion.

Is it just me? Or is Neyamr awfully over rated?? Have seen him a few times playing for Barca (on TV) and he does very little to justify his price tag ??

He seems quite lightweight for someone with such a high price tag.

I'm on this bandwagon too.

Also what last night showed (which annoys me so much when English teams play against them), they are both awful defenders. If you attack them you will get a ton of chances.

If you sit back and let them dominate possession then you've basically beat yourself.

So easy to say that. We are talking about Barcelona and Real Madrid here. They keep the ball so well and pass it so many times that teams can only press for so long. Not many teams can do it all game and it only takes one moment for a through ball and that is it, Messi/Sanchez/Benzema/Ronaldo need no excuse to finish.

Madrids defence is good. Barcelonas isn't the best but not many teams can get out of their own half against Barcelona, never mind go at their defence.

Neymar. He will come good, not to say he hasn't done well. People seem to be comparing him to Bale alot which is unfair.
A bit lightweight yes but he has the talent. Barcelona will only improve him.
Bale was non existent last night.

But there's that mindset. Yes they are both top quality teams but when you watch how easily they both got in (especially the first half) for both teams was unreal.

If you play against them and stick 11 men behind the ball then for the most part you might as well pack up.

I mean Barcelona play with Mascherano as a CB for god sake!

I've seen him playing for Brazil. Didn't seem to be involved so for about 15 mins I just focused on him. It was difficult to believe he was a professional footballer. Just terrible.

Agree, I don't know how anyone expects to win European games against BM/Barca/RM if they just shut up shop from the off out of 'respect' for them. City in the first leg against Barca was a case in point, you get the players to play a certain attacking style all season then suddenly abandon it all. Do they seriously think they can keep a clean sheet over 2 legs and win by virtue of a single goal on the counter? If so, what is that saying about 1) their manager, 2) their squads; irrespective of what happens in the cannon fodder Bundesliga and BBVA week-in week-out, City and Chelsea should have the players to compete no matter what anyone says.

I also don't know why it has taken teams so long to realize (and they still haven't) that running at the defense is pretty simple. Bayern's attacking players are no better than Hazard/Oscar/Wilian, they've just realized that if they push into the box fast enough the defense either won't be able to react, or will panic and concede penalties, see Robben.. The era of being able to win the CL with formulaic tactical movement is over.

Indeed. Chuckled at 'Xenophobic bks' though, 70% of the players in the EPL are foreign! Can't deny that reffing in the two leagues has different definitions of what constitutes a foul though, and that is putting it mildly.

Neymar...what a miss. He couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Talk about emperors new clothes. He's so overrated.

I really don't fancy Brazil in the world cup at all. Neymar is useless, and at Chelsea we have David Luiz (good player but prone to madness), Will.I.An (a good engine but nothing special as a player), Oscar (tends to disappear from the game) and Ramirez (excellent if he doesn't get sent off).
