I was hugely sad when the GT90's revival series died out a few years back because I grew up in the 90's absolutely loving GT racing.

Lack of entries and interest killed it off but it seems it's back with a bang. Clearly someone has been pushing for it's return because it's been included in the Blancpain Endurance schedule alongside modern GT racers.

There are plenty of 90's GT cars still out there in raceable condition so hopefully grids will be bigger than last time.

Both GT90's and the new Revival series were/are backed by the SRO. Lets hope there is interest, but if the cars were not there for GT90's before, not sure what has changed now. I really hope I'm proved wrong.

Having won ( shared ) the GT2 class of the GT90s we are very interested , I think this time it will be a better show as the range is wider ( to 2004 ), the calender is great ( supporting the Blachpin series ).
But mostly Stephane Ratel is very keen to see it work and will give it all the support needed ..........now getting to Monza

I hope this series is a success. Being born in 91 meant I was too young to appreciate the 90's GT cars. I have seen the odd few at Goodwood each year, would love to see a full grid of them on a proper race track.

Hi there,

So glad that SRO have decided to revive the GT90's series. I was at Silverstone in 2007 for the first running of this and there were some stunning cars in the field.

Highlights for me were the 'Computacenter' Marcos

The Porsche GT1

and the 'EMI' Mclaren F1 Longtail (even though it only managed half a lap)

More pics here : - http://www.dunlopix.com/GT90%27s.html

Looking forward to the 2012 event.

Regards

Tim

The Stealth in the background is the one advertised in Autosport I think.

It could be a support race.

Typical - I'm in bloody Spain watching MotoGP that weekend.

I was fortunate to see Karcher BPR, FIA and British GT throughout the 1990s and it was never less than special. Did see the GT90s race at Silverstone but it was something of a damp squib as a recall. Given the number of domestic championships ongoing through that period there will be scores of cars out there; fewer of the proper works efforts from McLaren et al but should still make a fine spectacle.

If these are indeed racing at Silverstone, it will be a good year being a spectator what with this and the F1 Clienti in September as well. biggrin

I was born early nineties so missed out on these.

Corse Cliente good; Goodwood Revival better. At least so far as September 16th 2012 is concerned!

Looks like the entry list for Monza is just as bad if not worse than the last of the GT90's races which is a massive shame.

Any chance it'll pick up for Silverstone or is this dead in the water already?

I think there were only 6 cars out, and 2 of those were Ratel's beloved Venturis. It is a shame but I have no idea what sort of people own the machinery and what it would take to get them interested.
