Anyone noticed A-Level Engenering have built a 996 Turbo GTS car to run against the Ferrari 550M, 575 GTC, Viper, Zonda & Saleen S7 in the Le Mans Endurance Series?

Don't know if its raced yet as only just noticed this myself, but I wondered if we could see this at next years Le Mans vs the C6-R, might be interesting.

Would this be in the same class (or whatever it's called) as the C5R??

I must admit that was what I was wondering, my guess would be that it would run in the same class as the C5-R as if a C5-R was to run in the Le Mans Endurance Series it would be in the GTS class (the same class as this particular 996).

p.s. why aren't there any C5-R's running in the GTS class of the Le Mans Endurance Series?

Well the LMES provides automatic qualification for the winner - I assume that is class winnerS. It may well be the GM know they will qualify and thus do not want to spend the time/money on the series. It maybe that their drivers are otherwise engaged (ALMS?. Eiterh way it is a shame for us Europeans. I am planning to go to the Spa meet in Septemebr, anyone know if any privateer C5-Rs are running?
