But the former Foreign Office minister Denis MacShane said the "hostile action" was aimed at London, not the Falklands, and blamed the coalition for weakening Britain's international standing.

The Labour MP said: "South American leaders know that Britain has fewer friends than ever before because of David Cameron's isolationist approach in Europe and the indifference to the Obama administration as most cabinet members are close to US neo-Cons.

Just posturing. There are something like 24 Falklands flagged boats, and AFAIK, they haven't banned any other flagged boats which service the islands.

At least we can send the Navy and Harriers down like we did last time....oh not thats right... We have 4 Typhoons down there with enough spares to keep maybe 1.5 of them flying.

It's the blatant hypocrisy that gets me. The Argentinians keep trying to portray themselves as the 'natives' and the British as colonisers. Yes, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, that's a right typical South Amerindian name isn't it? It's not like you're all actually european colonisers as well is it?

FYI, since it has obviously never been covered in the Socialist W'nker, is a self-governing British Crown Dependency. It has nothing to do with the UK is is not, therefore, the concern of UKIP or any other British party. wink

Well, we've got Nimrods and Carriers.......oh, hang on! Well we've got plenty of Frigates and Destroyers...oh, hang on!

Perhaps CMD might send them some International Aid. He's good at that.

British settlements on the Falklands pre-date the existence even of Argentina, and as long as the right to self determination continues for the islanders, they will remain forever British.

Argentinians never seem to like being told the facts.

Ps The very mention of an HM Submarine in the area is enough to keep the Armada Argentina in harbour wink

Personally I'd put money on our 4 Typhoons plus a Type 45 destroyer, an Astute class sub and a Vanguard class sub against their entire three armed forces of fifties and sixties vintage kit. . . . .

Don't start talking facts Caulkhead, it ruins a thread full of half arsed comments, conjecture and tales that people heard down the pub.

Love this quote:

"If we were Palestine, the European Union would be up in arms," he said.

FFS.

If you were Palestine you'd already be under Argentinian rule and no one would give a st (never a good idea to be a Arab without oil).

Labour really are shameless scum aren't they. Trying to blame it on the Conservatives for vetoing the Euro bailout, and then on their defence cuts leading to a reduction in our naval power. All in the 18 months since Saint Gordon ruled the waves and was loved and admired by all of Europe.

A Russian carrier recently sought shelter off the coast of Scotland during the storms - but stayed in international waters.

So we sent a ship to take a look (a Nimrod would have been handy!).

HMS York duely puffed up all the way from Portsmouth - you couldn't make it up!

The four Typhoons have just had a complete overhaul as well so are 100% tip top.
