More Argie Bargie
Discussion
It is impotent posturing to distract their people from the political crisis they are experencing over their economic melt down. We are not the only target of her rhetoric, she targeted America last month. This is exactly the same as happened with Spain over Gibraltar last year, another right wing nationalist party blaming their woes on outsiders.

Meanwhile, the Falklands are advancing toward a rosy economic future. A depressing contrast if you're Argentine.

Excellent for the Islanders, important to get US commercial money involved to counter the pandering to Arg interests by their State Dept.smegmore said:
Serious question...Could the UK realistically defend the FA against another Argie invasion?
Given the state of Argentine readiness then yes. They have little navy that could safely transit into the south Atlantic never mind fight, their air force is outdated by 1980's standards and its serviceability is questionable. Add into the mix our radar and surface to air assets, plus the raf garrison, any naval assets in the region and four Typhoons it would be suicidal to attempt an invasion.
That said given the craziness of the regime in Buenos Aires it could well be the last throw of the dice prior to political implosion.

This was their main naval base last year.
The surface fleet is in a right state, the unknown would be what the two German built post conflict diesel subs would be capable of. I'm sure our submariners know what they are like but you still have a lot of sea to have to find them in if it all kicks off and without long range maritime patrol aircraft .......
Our Type 23 frigates would see off any enemy subs. Our Type 45 destroyers would take out their entire air threat, our SLCM carrying subs would wipe out their land threat, our Typhoons would keep goal.
If they did manage to land troops on the islands we would be able to re-take them by blocking their air threat and air resupply (Type 45s) and sub threat (type 23s and Astute class), taking out defensive points with SLCM and disembarking several battalions of battle-hardened ruffians very experienced in killing the Queen's enemies.
All this is before our carriers come into service.

607 did bb1 as 598 had to turn about.
Bb2 607 was lead aircraft, 598 as reserve.
Bb3 607 + 612
Bb4 597 + 598
Bb5 597 + 598
Bb6 597 + 598
Bb7 607 + 598

I think they'd have to throw everything at us here, we'd probably hold them off long enough until reinforcements arrived, it'll be carnage for them this time. No doubt HMG have something drawn up already just incase. They'll have another crack at it.
